Writer of life stories

Life stories have always been my passion.  From short pieces of 1500 words for the Rural Weekly newspaper, magazine feature stories to the 70,000 word manuscript culminating in the ABC Book Kissed by a Croc, a commission by HarperCollins.

Compiler of oral histories

These engagements involve researching family history, compiling questions and then recording interviews and taking photographs to present memories of a lifetime.  I then present them in DVD format:  condensed to eight hours of recordings and fifty images.  I normally spend a few days with the subjects in their own environment conducting the recordings and touring their district to capture the images.

Writer of collaborative autobiographies

Kissed by a Croc is my first commission as writer of crocodile farmer John Lever’s autobiography.  We worked closely together for two years, where I conducted weekly interviews for the better part of a year, transcribed his 70,000 words and then compiling the interviews into a compelling story.

Photographer

My experience is taking photographs to accompany life stories, oral histories and collaborative autobiographies.  For two years I took photos to accompany newspaper articles for The Morning Bulletin Rural Weekly and then contributed to RM Williams Outback magazine with a feature story including four photos, one a full page image.  I have covered the captures and relocations of five metre crocodiles, Pinjarra and Jock to the Melbourne and Dubai Aquariums and croc artificial insemination programs.
